ChapmanCraig Supports Charity Work in China for the 10th Year, Thursday September 9th, 2010

ChapmanCraig believes that corporate responsibility begins in playing an active role in contributing to the communities in which it operates.  In Hong Kong it has been an active supporter since 1995 of the Hong Kong Outward Bound Trust and since 2000 in China.

In China, the firm’s focus has been split between the Hairy Crab Charities (www.hairycrabcharities.com), an initiative of long-time Shanghai residences Joe Tatelbaum and Stew Beck and supported by an international group of amateur golfers (very amateur) and directly assisting entrepreneurs starting businesses that employ local residents.

The Hairy Crab Charities now donate to three China children’s charities.  They have proudly assisted in the development of China’s most advanced neo-natal intensive care unit at Fudan University Children’s Hospital.  Fudan saves hundreds of children’s lives each year.  Through Heart 2 Heart they pay for open heart surgery for children whose families can not afford it. Finally, they work with Half the Sky who has upgraded orphanages around China to provide a caring, nurturing environment for China’s orphans.

100% of the funds raised go directly to the charities as their efforts are manned by volunteer expatriate businessmen based in China.

In Beijing, two enterprises have received assistance and now they employ 8 persons.
